On yaşındayım. Mersin'in Gözne yaylası.

Born in Adana in 1963, he completed his primary education at Celalettin Sayhan Primary School in Adana and attended Tarsus American College as a boarding student for middle and high school.

From primary school onward and for a few years after completing his undergraduate studies, basketball occupied a significant part of his life. He earned his undergraduate degree in psychology from Boğaziçi University’s Department of Psychology.

In 1990, he began working at Çukurova University, and in 1991, he received a scholarship to pursue postgraduate studies in social and cultural psychology at the University of Sussex in the UK. He bypassed the master’s program to directly pursue a PhD and completed both his master’s and doctorate within four years.

After earning his doctorate in 1995, he returned to Turkey and continued working as a faculty member in the Philosophy Department at Çukurova University’s Faculty of Education. From 1996 to 1999, he served as the department chair.

As a matter of principle, he chose not to participate in the peculiar process of the associate professorship exam. After working as a faculty member for 20 years, he left the university in the summer of 2014.

His translation of Final Analysis by Jeffrey Masson was published in 2000.

In recent years, his work has primarily focused on improving the quality of psychological support services dominated by psychiatry. He strongly believes that psychological assistance for children should be entirely drug-free. Based on his knowledge, experience, and perspective, he advocates that every psychological problem can be resolved through pure social-psychological support and incorporates this approach into his professional practice. His current focus is on understanding and addressing the issue labeled “Hyperactivity and Attention Deficit.”

The book Critical New Perspectives on ADHD, published in the UK in 2006, to which he contributed a chapter, won the award for the best book in its field that year.

In his independent practice, he provides psychological support to children, adolescents, families, and adults. He particularly focuses on helping children using effective, drug-free methods. Among the issues he addresses are autism, which is said to last a lifetime; hyperactivity, claimed to be untreatable without medication; and conditions like schizophrenia and manic-depression, which are believed to require lifelong medication. He argues that all psychiatric diagnoses can be eliminated through proper social-psychological methods, especially when early intervention is provided, and he demonstrates this in his professional practice.

He has been with his partner, Işıl Var, for 35 years, and they have a 28-year-old daughter named Melodi.

Işıl Var is a faculty member in the field of Food Engineering at Çukurova University, while Melodi is pursuing her PhD at Syracuse University in the United States.
